How We Remove Foreign Odor and Black Mold Odor
a Step By Step
The first step in our process is identifying the nature of the unpleasant odour. Once we understand its source, we determine the required ozone concentration and the precise duration needed to treat your home effectively. After this assessment, we develop a tailored treatment strategy to ensure optimal results.
If your premises have separate rooms with doors, we will conduct the treatment gradually—one room at a time. Typically, we begin from the top floor and work our way down. This approach is based on the fact that ozone gas is heavier than air, allowing it to naturally descend and penetrate from the upper levels downward.
However, if your home has two floors without natural barriers such as doors or blinds, we usually deploy two ozone-generating units—one positioned on the top floor and the other on the ground floor. This ensures comprehensive coverage and an even distribution of ozone throughout the space.
Preparation Before Treatment
Before we begin, a few simple but essential preparations must be made:
All windows and doors must be closed.
Exhaust ventilation should be sealed off.
The premises must be free of people, pets, and plants.
While ozone gas is safe, during the treatment process, it reaches concentrations that can be harmful to living beings. However, this concentration is precisely what allows ozone to break down and neutralize the molecules responsible for unpleasant odours.
Controlling the Process
Throughout the treatment, we carefully regulate the ozone levels by adjusting the duration as needed. Rest assured, ozone treatment does not affect your belongings—furniture, paintings, carpets, and other household items remain completely unharmed. Ozone is only reactive toward organic molecules, making it a highly effective yet selective solution for odour elimination.
As one of the most powerful oxidizers, ozone is approximately 50 times more effective than chlorine in breaking down odour-causing molecules. Once its job is done, ozone naturally decomposes back into oxygen, leaving behind a fresh, clean atmosphere.
Treatment Duration and Ventilation
The length of treatment depends on the level of contamination and the size of the premises. On average, the process takes anywhere from 1 to 3 hours. (depending on the size of the room) Once the treatment is complete, we thoroughly ventilate each room for at least 60 minutes using natural ventilation. After this period, you can safely re-enter the space without any restrictions.
We typically recommend scheduling the treatment in the morning or early afternoon. From the moment we arrive, the entire process—including treatment and ventilation—takes approximately 3 hours for treatment plus an additional 1 to 1.5 hours for proper ventilation.
What Our Service Includes
Our ozone treatment service is comprehensive and includes:
- On-site visit and assessment.
- Preparation of the premises to ensure an effective treatment process. We will securely close all ventilation grilles and isolate any doorless rooms to maximize treatment efficiency, as the odour may vary in intensity across different spaces.
- Installation of ozone-generating equipment in strategic locations.
- Treatment process monitoring, including controlling ozone levels.
- Leak prevention measures, ensuring ozone does not escape through windows, ventilation shafts, or cracks.
- Ventilation after treatment to restore a safe, breathable atmosphere.
What Ozone Can — and Can't — Do
It is important to clarify that ozone treatment eliminates odours already present in a space, effectively neutralizing their molecular structure. However, it does not remove the underlying cause of persistent smells. For example, while ozone will eliminate the odour of cigarette smoke, it cannot prevent people from smoking indoors. Ozone will destroy Black mould, like any other, but if the causes of mould are not eliminated (for example, excess humidity or non-working ventilation), then the Black mould will return, and then the unpleasant smell. The treatment will have to be repeated.
Ozone is highly effective against organic molecules, which are responsible for the most unpleasant smells. By targeting and breaking these molecules apart, ozone provides a deep, lasting purification of your space.
We guarantee to eliminate all odours resulting from organic materials, only if the source has been fully removed before treatment. We do not guarantee long-term results if the actions or processes that initially caused the odour are continued.
